Katy, I've been wondering about Dave as well. I bet we're going to see him in some mind-bending reveal before it's all over. Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words as well. I hope you will check out my book.

Very interesting post, and I can't wait for tonight's episode. However, I just had to chime in that 4 out of 6 is 2/3, not 3/4. It's just the math minor in me that can't let it go. :)

Hey, James! It’s Katy from For the Record. Thanks for for the shout out and the blog visit! I haven’t read VALIS, but after your post I think I should! Good thoughts on its application to Lost. I especially like your connecting Hurley’s experiences to the PDK quote about reality, and I think you’re right on in regard to madness being the price of knowing truth. I’m just about convinced that Hurley’s imaginary friend, Dave, is actually real. Ben’s actions are those of a madman, yet he has an air of clarity about him and he’s the only one on the island who actually knows what’s going on. After “Eggtown,” Locke is officially in the madness camp, but he too has gained intimate knowledge of the island.

I’m looking forward to reading your other Lost Book Club posts and to checking out the rest of your site. You’ve got some great stuff on here! And it looks like we’ve got a lot in common. I’m a poet and a semi-new stay-at-home mom, with a resume of adjuncting in my former university’s English dept. & editing/writing for a non-profit organization in DFW. I’ll have to check out your novel. (Mary’s comment on Amazon is a high compliment for sure, but the book looks intriguing too!) Good luck on the next one!
