Shower

Lowering storm clouds,
the grey rain intensifies.
Everyone rushes to
stand under the canopy
& listen while drainpipes rattle.

Attempted tanka for napowrimo today. This weekend, I’ll just be doing micro-poems at a gnarled oak. They cross post at Identi.ca and Twitter for anyone who is into those things.

  1. Color me weird, but drainpipes rattling with storm-water is a marvelous sound. Throw in some rumbling thunder and you’ve got a wonderful summer musical

    • Storm sounds are great, aren’t they? We didn’t get thunder the other day, but the drain pipes played a good solo 🙂

  2. as soon as I saw the title I thought — yeah, I should probably get cleaned up and dressed now. 😀

I like the drainpipe; adds a memorable twist to a rain poem.
