This one is surrounded by the kind of country music that makes country cool. It’s hard to not like a song in which Kristofferson enjoys his breakfast beer so much he “has one more for dessert.”
- “Sunday Morning Coming Down” – Kris Kristofferson – KGSR Broadcasts Vol. 14
- “Space Is Gonna Do Me Good” – Frank Black – Teenager of the Year
- “Walkin'” – Miles Davis – Miles in Berlin (Live)
- “Takin’ the ‘A’ Train” – Jimmy McGriff – The Worm
- “Rhythm in Blue Suite: Love in 5” – Danilo Perez – Central Avenue
- “Grab ‘Hole A Dis” – Charles Earland – Funk Fantastique
- “The Man Comes Around” – Johnny Cash – American IV
- “Wishful Thinking” – Wilco – A Ghost is Born
- “Sloop John B” – Dick Dale – Dick Dale & His Del-Tones
- “Private Conversations” – Lyle Lovett – The Road to Ensendada
Throw Earland and McGriff in there, and this is one weird little set. Of course, Cash can hang with anyone anywhere.
Damn American IV was a fine record.

Damn American IV was a fine record.
My sentiments exactly. Did you see the opening credits for “Dawn of the Dead”? Using “The Man Comes Around” was absolutely brilliant.
I completely agree on the Cash.
And if you don’t know Crooked Fingers’ cover of the Kristofferson, check it out, on a terrific EP called Reservoir Songs, with the best odd Prince cover you’ll ever hear (well, it’s a tie with Richard Thompson’s “Kiss”).
Mark, I haven’t seen that.
George, That’s another one I’ll have to look into.
It’s more action than horror, if you liked Alien(s), the remake of Dawn of the Dead delivers more of the same. Plus it has Sarah Polley, who is every bit as hot as Sigourney Weaver.
I liked both of the first two Alien movies. The closet to the Dawn of the Dead films I’ve come is Shawn of the Dead, which was great.
